AMY DYE, 9, SLAIN BY MONSTER IN KENTUCKY

THE LITTLE GIRL murdered in western Kentucky over the weekend was killed by a flurry of blows, cops in the Bluegrass State say. Pretty Amy R. Dye, 9, was found dead  before dawn Saturday outside Guthrie, Kentucky. Amy had been reported missing several hours earlier.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Stu Recke said the girl died of "multiple blunt force trauma."Her family lives on a road near where her body was found. Local police called the KSP detectives late Friday. Shortly after midnight, it became a murder probe.
ACCORDING TO THE PRINCETON TIMES LEADER: At 2:15 a.m., two state troopers and a state fish and wildlife officer walked a few hundred yards along a gravel drive with flashlights and searched for something on the ground and in adjacent fields. They did not appear to find anything.

A few minutes later, KSP requested generators from the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department to power outdoor lights. They decided later they would not need the lights, said Recke.

Around 3:30 a.m., the Todd County Sheriff's Department drove a man and a woman in separate sheriff's cruisers from the scene of the death investigation to the Trenton City Hall for questioning.

Recke said he did not know if they were family members or suspects. Their names have not been released.

The Todd County coroner's office drove to the scene at 3:50 a.m.
Anyone with information about the girl's death is urged to call KSP at 270-676-3313 or 800-222-5555. Callers may remain anonymous, he said.
