GANGSTA GUILTY OF NJ SCHOOLYARD EXECUTIONS

EXECUTED
COLD BLOODED
A HIGH school hitman, who was part of team that executed three college bound friends has been found guilty of murder.
Alexander Alfaro watched as Terrance Aeriel, 18; Dashon Harvey, 20; and Lofemi Hightower, 20, were forced to kneel down and then shot from point blank range, in the yard of the Mount Vernon School in Newark, NJ.
The 20-year-old, who was 16 at the time admitted playing a part in
the robbery that took place before the killings, claiming he was coerced into bringing a machete by his half brother.
But he denied having any part in the murders themselves.
His cousin however testified that Alfaro told her about the August 2007 attacks the following day.
She said that he told her that the six suspects circled four friends and demanded that they lie on the ground and give up their valuables before blasting them.
Amazingly the fourth victim, Natasha Aeriel survived the attack.
Alfaro is the third person convicted in the killing after he was found guilty of murder, felony murder, robbery, conspiracy and weapons charges.
Three other defendants -- Jose Carranza, 32; Gerardo Gomez, 18; and Shahid Baskerville, 19 -- have yet to go to trial.
Prosecutor Robert Laurino said: "We hope that he will join both of his other co-defendants, who are now serving multiple life sentences in state prison,'' s
He added: "I hope that this verdict will give some small degree of solace to the families."
Two other men involved in the attack have been sentenced to life in prison.
Melvin Jovel was sentenced to a total of 245 years in November 2010.
He received three life sentences for each murder and 20 years for attempted murder while ringleader Rodolfo Godinez, the first defendant to be tried for the killings, was found guilty on all 17 counts.
Carter said Godinez was involved in gang recruiting and characterized himself as the ringleader who
Alfaro will be sentenced on May 19 and faces multiple life sentences, prosecutors said.
