UNWITTING THIEF POCKET DIALS THE COPS DURING JOB

SOMETIMES it takes good old fashioned detective work, sometimes it's the latest DNA technology, or sometimes the thieves accidentally ring you from their pocket and tell you all about their crimes.
That's exactly what happened in upstate New York this week when when the 911 dispatcher picked up the phone and heard three crooks plotting their next crime.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says police who were already looking for a suspicious person got the unlikely assist, when one of the plotters "pocket dialed" his cellphone's emergency number while driving near the scene of an earlier heist.
The dispatcher then relayed the conversation to deputies as the men discussed their plans, described their surroundings and even commented, "there go the cops now."It was enough for the officer to turn around and stop the Kia Sportage they were driving.
Lo and behold it full of tools and stolen from a business in the Syracuse suburb of Clay.
The dispatcher then heard the driver being asked for his license and registration.
The men now face grand larceny and stolen property charges.
