Benito Apolinar, 36, allegedly pulled his wife Dolores, out of her Carlsbad TX home, by her hair and punched her in the cheek, when she refused to acknowledge his status update, paying tribute to his dead mom.
According to the police complaint, Benito Apolinar posted a comment on his Facebook page about the anniversary of his mother's passing.
But when his recently estranged wife of 15-years, did not click on the "like" button beneath the update he got mad, reportedly telling her that "he had so many comments on his status" and he was unhappy that she did not respond to the post.
According to the Current Argus he allegedly told her: "That's amazing everyone 'likes' my status but you, you're my wife. You should be the first one to 'like' my status."
Cops said he was in town to drop off his children with their mother, where he allegedly arrived drunk, so Dolores would not let him into her home because she is on house arrest and feared she would get in trouble.
This, combined with the Facebook update, apparently riled Benito, causing him to attack.
Cops arrived to find several people outside of the residence, and a woman yelling inside of the home.
According to Benito however, his probably soon to be ex-wife had hit herself in the face and hit him the eyebrow area with her cell phone.
A pretrial conference has been set in magistrate court for Benito Apolinar for December and the bond was set at $3,000.
