TONCH WELDON: LIFE FOR KILLING WIFE'S LESBIAN LOVER

TO TONCH WELDON, it must have seemed like a good idea at the time. An open relationship with another woman and his wife joining in. Great, right? Well, no. Weldon was sentenced to life in prison without parole for murder his wife's lesbian lover, Amy Gephart on June 7, 2009. The 39-year-old Marengo, Iowa man's lawyer may appeal based on his intoxication. His mom cried when Weldon was sent away. His wife Amanda also shed tears. Amy's parents came too, but said
nothing. Weldon shot Gephart in the heart with a 20-gauge shotgun before turning it on himself because he found out his wife was leaving him for the pretty young lesbian, according to trial testimony. Amanda Weldon testified she and her husband had an open marriage and were in a sexual relationship with Gephart, who lived with them and was the sex playmate of both, but the women fell in love with each other and decided to leave him.
Her family said in a statement: "Amy was our only child and we had 35 wonderful years with her. She was a talented writer, photographer, and musician. She loved children and shared her interest in science and nature with them. Amy Gephart loved animals and nature and developed a native prairie as a senior project at the high school. The domestic violence issue was very near to Amy’s heart and she would assist victims in any way possible through food, clothing and finances." OPEN RELATIONSHIP LEADS TO MURDER
