THANKSGIVING 'MONSTER' MERHIGE PLEADS GUILTY

AN ADMITTED killer described as a "monster" pleaded guilty to murdering four relatives in a 2009 Thanksgiving massacre. His guilty plea with save him a trip to death row and oblivion. Paul Merhige was a last minute guest, one of 16, at the South Florida home Nov. 26, 2009. He was Muriel Sitton's cousin Paul Merhige. They enjoyed a traditional dinner and then gathered in a horseshoe around their brown Baldwin piano to sing and dance, mostly church songs. As the night wore on, police say Merhige left the house and returned with a gun. The victims were Merhige's twin sisters, one of whom was pregnant; his aunt, who was Muriel Sitton's mother; and Makayla Sitton, 6, who had been tucked into bed not long before. Others were hurt, including one relative who spent three months in a coma.
Makayla's dad Jim recalled seeing his daughter on the stretcher and asked:  "If the death penalty isn't for this guy, who's the death penalty for?" THANKSGIVING MASSACRE KILLER
