PHOENIX cops have arrested and charged the mother of a missing girl with child abuse. Jerice Hunter was arrested on child abuse charges "directly related to [her missing 5-year-old daughter] Jhessye," Glendale Police Sgt. Brent Coombs said. Jhessye (JES'-ee) Shockley has been missing since Oct. 11 when she vanished from her Phoenix apartment. Coombs said Monday detectives don't believe they'll find the girl alive and that Hunter "is our No. 1 focus." Hunter's apartment was surrounded by police tape Monday as investigators

HE LIVED by the gun and he died by the gun. Retired Chicago lawyer Carl Kuhn was an avid gun collector and advocate for gun rights was shot to death for his large collection. Court heard Kuhn--the 82-year-old former Illinois State Rifle Association official--"opened his heart and his home" to Terry Bratcher, a criminal he often represented and even loaned him cash. He was repaid with suffocation when Bratcher stole dozens of guns from his house in 2009.

A TEEN who shot and killed his Grade 8 classmate over an escalating gay-straight conflict has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for 21 years in jail. Cops have kept many of the grisly details sealed, but they're convinced that 15-year-old Joshua Young killed his younger sibling, 14-year-old Trey Zwicker.
The youngster was found beaten in a ditch outsider of a high school in May.

Edwin Ledgard, dubbed 'special ed' by colleagues, dumped three 100-mililiter vials of a drug used to treat anemia in baby pigs into a brewing pot of coffee at a Frisch's Big Boy in a random attempt to bump people off.
But thankfully another worker at the Toledo, OH restaurant saw the weird wannabe assassin and stopped him, before any serious damage could be done.
Police identified the drug as Dextran, also known as Iron-100, which is injected into suckling pigs' muscles to correct iron deficiency after birth.
Information about the potential consequences of human ingestion was not readily available Saturday night.
