Cancer con-woman Ruth Angelica Gomez preyed on people's sympathy to rake in more than $17,000 through an organization which she set up called Achieve the Dream.
Hundreds had responded to pleas she made at motivational talks and fundraisers including students at Da Vinci High School who threw a prom party/fundraiser for her after she told them that she had missed her own senior prom because she was in treatment.

Alicia Henderson, 38, told relatives she was going to to take care of Reba Little, who had stage four cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
But after moving into the 74-year-olds West Palm Beach, FL, home in February, she began to abuse her defenseless parent.
Her sister Charlotte Lovell claimed her sister began her alleged abuse by hitting their mother between five and ten times about the face and head.
In one instance, she added that Henderson kicked their mother in the back and hit her 'hard in the head' because she had fallen over and spilled a cup of water.
She also accused her of taking away Little's clothes and telling her she had to 'earn them back.'

Scam artist Alicia Tolton, 27, shaved her hair, donned a bandana and told people was suffering from ovarian and breast cancer, keeping up the scam for more than 18 months.
But she told pals she needed help to raise the money to pay for surgery and other medical bills and with their help she organized a benefit for herself, ordering and soliciting tickets, t-shirts and raffles.
Prosecutor Kate McGill told the court in Norristown, PA: "She took advantage of people’s goodwill in probably the most despicable way possible by pretending to have cancer, so that she could solicit money and gifts from people.
