WHITEY BULGER TRIAL: 'I'M NO STOOL PIGEON'

Whitey Bulger has always denied he was a stool pigeon despite the fact the FBI has a boatload of files revealing that the Boston crime kingpin was indeed, a rat.
In an interview with NBC NEWS former G-Man Robert Fitzpatrick said that's always been the tune the mob canary has whistled.
Fitzpatrick told NBC: “When I interviewed him, he said he was not an informant and I found that odd because my whole reason for going out there was to assess him as an informant.  The worst thing for an Irish guy in Boston is to be a tout, [informant]. He said he would never testify.”

WHITEY BULGER: LAST BIG MOB TRIAL IN AMERICA

It will likely be the last great mob trial in America. Why? Because none of the big guns are left. Gotti? Gone. Gigante? Gone. The remainders are mere pikers. This is something special. As jury selection gets underway for the massive James 'Whitey' Bulger trial in Boston, legal experts say that the master criminal's defence team will be looking for people with street smarts, a disdain for authority and God-willing, reside in his home base of South Boston.  The prosecution, on the other hand, will

BOSTON GANG BOSS WHITEY BULGER GOES TO TRIAL

Whitey Bulger is the last of America's old school gangsters and sometime this week he will go on trial for a litany of crimes -- including 19 murders. The man who owned Boston for decades --and inspired Jack Nicholson's crazed mob boss in The Departed -- was finally run to ground after years on the run with his mob moll in 2011.
Now 83, the crime lord's platinum hair is gone and the remnants of his feared Winter Hill Gang are dead, in prison  or if they're lucky, scattered to the wind. Can the old crook pull another miracle?

"He's a survivor. He's had a very long shelf life in a profession where that is not typical," said Dick Lehr, who wrote Bulger's biography Whitey: The Life of America's Most Notorious Mob Boss "The many faces of Whitey make him intriguing," Lehr added.

EVIL KILLER CHUCK STUART'S BROTHER FOUND DEAD

IT WAS one of the most notorious murders in the last 30 years and now, another chapter has closed on it. Matthew F. Stuart became notorious as the stooge younger brother that evil Chuck Stuart talked into becoming his murder accomplice. Matt Stuart, 45, was found dead in a homeless shelter Saturday. Christine Desimone, who knew him well told the Boston Herald: "He was a gentle giant. He never said one bad word about nobody. Always had a smile on his face." Foul play has been ruled out. Stuart, 45, never spoke of the Oct. 23, 1989, slayings of his pregnant sister-in-law Carol DiMaiti Stuart and unborn

LURID DETAILS EMERGE IN LAUREN ASTLEY MURDER

A JILTED Massachusetts football jock's depraved killing of his ex-girlfriend was filled with more sickening details in court yesterday. After he hacked her throat and strangled Lauren Astley, 18, then dumped her bod, Nathaniel Fujita, also 18, was spotted driving shirtless, windows down, music blaring.
Among the tidbits yesterday in a suburban Boston court were:
* A medical examiner’s report that she was battered, had no fewer than three deep neck wounds and was choked so forcefully that her eyes, neck, face and gums hemorrhaged. Fujita was a weightlifter (lots of time for that now!) and she was 100 lbs. soaking wet.
* Fujita then dumped her tiny body into a marsh. A cyclist found Astley’s

JAMES 'WHITEY' BULGER GETS PUBLIC DEFENDER

TOO POOR?
FORMER mob king pin James 'Whitey' Bulger is to get a public defender for his multiple murder trial, because he can't afford to pay for his own lawyer, a court ruled yesterday.
Despite being caught with more than $800,000 in cash, when his Santa Monica apartment was busted last week, the taxpayer will fund his defense.
His provisional attorney Peter Krupp, said authorities have seized all of Bulger's assets as the proceeds of illegal activity, leaving him with no way to pay for his defense.
And although prosecutors argued that his family including his brother and former Massachusetts Senate president, William Bulger could pay, he said no relatives had come forward and offered to help him financially.

HEAT'S ON WHITEY BULGER'S MOLL, CATHERINE GREIG

FBI investigators are going to refocus their energies in bringing Boston mob kingpin Whitey Bulger to justice by turning up the heat on his longtime moll: Catherine Greig. G-Men believe that Greig is the key to finding Bulger, who has been on the lam since 1995. The onetime pooh-bah of the notorious Winter Hill Gang--and inspiration for Jack Nicholson's whacked out gang chief in The Departed--is wanted for the murders of 19 men and women along with a litany of other charges. The FBI is offering a $2 million reward for the capture of the 81-year-old killer. The Boston Herald has also suggested that Bulger could be dead and that the Feds may just want to know where, ahem,
