Serial killer Darren Vann's ex: 'He wasn't violent'

HAMMOND, INDIANA -- The former wife of suspected serial killer Darren Deon Vann said her ex-hubby was never violent when they were together.
"This is all unbelievable to me," the unidentified woman said. "A total shocker. I never knew him to be violent, never.  He was so protective of those around him. He was a real friendly person, that's why all this is a shock to me. He had a job all the time; if he lost one, he would quickly get another one."

Joseph Oberhansley ate gal pal's brains, heart, lungs

Joseph Oberhansley (L) allegedly murdered, then ate parts of Tammy Jo Blanton (R)Cops in Indiana believe Joseph Oberhansley not only murdered his girlfriend but ate parts of her body as well during a cannibalistic frenzy. Oberhansley, 33, was formally charged in the sickening slaying of Tammy Blanton in Jeffersonville in the southeastern corner of the state. Besides the murder charge, the twisted accused killer was charged with the abuse of a corpse and breaking and entering.
Oberhansley reportedly told police he ate a portion of Blanton's brains, heart and lungs after stabbing the woman to death.
Cops say the discovered Blanton's bloody and ravaged  body in a bathtub: with sections of her skull carved out. "[Oberhansley] further admitted to cooking a section of her brain and eating it," the police report said.
Oberhansley is a veritable prince charming with a criminal record stretching back to his teens. In 2000, he was convicted of manslaughter in the death of his 17-year-old girlfriend.

Robert and Charlene Spierer have been in the city since Lauren vanished June 3 after a night of drinking with friends. INDIANA MASSACRE VICTIMS ID'D; KILLER AT LARGE!

INDIANA COPS have identified the five victims found shot to death at two rural homes--and say the unknown killer was not among the corpses. The slayings Sunday near Laurel have triggered waves of fear and police are urging residents to be cautious. The victims are: Angela Napier, 47, Jacob Napier, 18, Roy Napier, 50, Melissa Napier, 23, and Henry Smith, 43. So far, cops say there are no suspects in the senseless slaughter, although the Napier family was widely believed to have been involved in the drug trade. INDIANA MASSACRE: COPS TIGHT-LIPPED ON 5 DEAD

COPS IN Indiana remain tight-lipped on the weekend massacre that left 5 dead at two rural residences as residents cower in terror. Authorities have yet to reveal whether the slaughter was a domestic murder-suicide, drug related or a a criminal world settling of accounts. They refused to call it "a manhunt" suggesting either they know who the triggerman is or the killer is dead.

INDIANA GIRL, 11, SHOT BY SISTER, 14, PLAYING CSI

AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl was blasted in the head with a shotgun by her 14-year-old sister during a game of CSI that went horribly wrong.
The pair were playing a game based on the on the hit TV show when the girl picked up the gun and: "shot pellets in the head area from a 20 gauge shotgun," according to Cass County conservation officer Brenda Louthain. Neither parent was home at the time.

LEGENDARY private and former NYPD detective Richard 'Bo' Dietl revealed he has a team of detectives on the ground in Bloomington, Indiana hunting for clues in the disappearance of pretty co-ed Lauren Spierer, 20. And he also had a few things to say about cops in the Hoosier state.

COPS SAY EX-BOYFRIEND MURDERED AMANDA BACH

COPS SAY a Northwest Indiana man murdered pretty Amanda Bach who had been missing since last Thursday and was found dead Saturday--300 yards from the accused killer's home. Dustin McCowan, 18, then allegedly shot to death his former girlfriend, Bach, 19. He has been charged with murder.

BODY FOUND IN WOODS NOT LAUREN SPIERER: COPS

UPDATE: Police in Indiana say the body they found in a woods on Tuesday is not that of missing Indiana University co-ed Lauren Spierer. They did not say who it was or release the results of an autopsy on the corpse.
 EARLIER: COPS IN INDIANA are being tight-lipped on whether a body discovered in rural Jennings County could be that of missing co-ed Lauren Spierer. Emergency officials had to use ATVs and four-wheel drive vehicles to investigate, Jennings County Sheriff Steve Hoppock said in a news release. It appeared the body had been there for some time, he said.
State Police crime technicians were called to the scene, as was the Jennings County coroner’s office.

DR. MEHTA PAUL MYSTERY: SON A PERSON OF INTEREST

COPS IN Indiana believe that a missing doctor is dead and have named her oldest son as a person of interest in the six-month mystery. Ophthalmologist Promila Mehta Paul, M.D. disappeared March 21 and her son Paresh Paul--who lived with her--disappeared at the same time. He was found five days later crossing the border with Mexico back into the USA and detained at San Ysidro, California. He refused to speak with cops and has not yet been arrested or charged.

SHHH. That's the tact being taken by a "person of interest" in the sensational Lauren Spierer missing person case. Jason 'Jay' Rosenbaum who told cops he last saw the pretty blonde walking alone and barefoot to her Bloomington, Indiana apartment on June 3 has now clammed up.

Cops in Indiana fear a New York co-ed may have met with foul play after she vanished Friday after a night of partying at a Midwest bar. Lauren Spierer, 20, a pretty blonde sophomore at Indiana University was last spotted in bare feet walking home alone in Bloomington.
Her dad Robert told the New York Post: "It's every parent's nightmare." Surveillance video from her apartment complex reveals she never made it home and her keys were discovered a block away from where she was last seen. Investigators are now scouring nearby woods, dumpsters and back alleys for any sign of the petite student--who stands just 4'11" and weighs a mere 100 lbs. Her wealthy parentshave flown to Indiana to help with the search say she has a heart defect and requires meds.

RILEY CHOATE, EX-WIFE CHARGED IN TORTURE MURDER
