COLD CASE COPS CHASE NEW LEADS IN '79 TRIPLE SLAY

THEY WERE JUST KIDS. Three young men. Dead. Shot to death execution-style. Now, cops in San Mateo, California say they have a hot new lead in the notorious 1979 Payless Murders.
On Feb. 4th, 1979 Tracy Anderson, 16, Billy Baumgartner, 17, and Michael Olson, 24, clerks at the
drug store were shot to death during a robbery.
"San Mateo Police Department detectives diligently continue to investigate this case," Deputy Chief Michael Callagy said in a statement released Wednesday. "Recently they have developed some new information, which they believe is important to this investigation."
Detectives have recently revisited the shocking case and are pursuing new lines of inquiry, however, it has always been suspected the massacre was an inside job.
A $75,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the crime. Anyone who might have information about the case is urged to call San Mateo police investigations at (650) 522-7650. Information can also be given anonymously by calling (650) 522-7677
