A COWARDLY convicted killer who shot a man in the back and went on the run for more than 20 years, has finally been caught in Mexico.
Back in 1989 Adam Zachs was appealing a 60-year sentence for the cold blooded killing of Peter Carone, when he jumped bail and fled south of the border.
The pair, who barely knew each other had been chatting in a Hartford CT bar when a minor argument broke out and they scuffled outside according to testimony at the time.
Then Zachs pulled out a 9-mm Smith & Wesson pistol and blasted Carone, who was engaged to be married, in the back
He was convicted in 1987 to 60-years but his Aunt posted a $250,000 appeal bond.
He was supposed to stay with his parents in Bloomfield.
