THE HOT Tub Killer is being put on ice. Bill Wiggins, 61, of Springfield, Oregon pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter after strangling and drowning his wife Andrea, 62, in their hot tub last year.
Wiggins admitted he killed the asst. dead of education at the University of Oregon but blamed it on drugs he was taking and said he was “under the influence of extreme emotional disturbance.”
The prosecution called the 10 years in jail plea deal somewhere between an insanity defense and murder
admission. The couple had no history of domestic violence during their 13-year marriage.
Oh, and there was also a clause put in by her family: he gets zip.
“All reports indicate that this was a very loving couple with no history of domestic violence,” she said, calling Andrea Wiggins’ death “a tragic loss for everybody.”
However, the dead woman's dad took a harsher view of the killer. Jack Nicholson, wrote to urge a minimum 10-year sentence, said his daughter was “a precious and special person” who “worked all her life trying to make things better.”
He called Wiggins: “a cruel, callous and calculating killer” and a “deadbeat.”
“I believe Andrea had had about enough and Wiggins was aware he was about to lose his meal ticket,” Nicholson wrote.
