BOYFRIEND, LOVER STRANGLE PREGNANT CHICAGO TEEN

CHICAGO COPS have arrested a man and woman and charged them with first-degree murder in the slaying of a pregnant teenager. Cops say Deandre Minkens, 20, and Shante Thomas, 19, murdered Rosemary Newman, who was nine months pregnant with a baby girl. The gruesome twosome are also charged with the intentional homicide of the unborn child.
Newman went out with a friend Saturday night and never came home. She was found in a forest preserve in a rural corner of Cook County. She had been strangled.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, court records reveal that Minkens has been on probation since April 20 for the robbery of a 14-year-old. He threatened the child at a bus stop and took the contents of the child’s backpack. H.E.R.O.
ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF'S DEPT: The investigation revealed that Minkens and Thomas spent several weeks developing a plan to murder the victim, who was nine months pregnant with Minkens’ child. Last Saturday night, Minkens invited Newman to dinner at a Crestwood restaurant while Thomas hid in the vehicle, waiting for them to come back. The couple returned to the car and as Minkens drove east, Thomas emerged and began strangling Newman. Both Minkens and Thomas then proceeded to beat the victim until she was unconscious. Minkens then drove to a Cook County Forest Preserve near Calumet City, where he strangled Newman to death and dumped her body in the woods.
