FIRESTARTER |
THE SUSPECT |
Corey Allon Harmon, 23, used the hunk of burning love to start the fire, which he hoped would kill his wife Caryl.
In late January he walked into a spare room of their Redding PA home and lit a stuffed Valentine's Day teddy bear on fire with a BIC lighter fire inspector Craig Wittner reported
Then watched the fire spread and shut the
door. Luckily Caryl Harmon woke up in time and left the house, which was completely destroyed in the blaze through a back door.
Wittner then reported that madman Harmon told him that he started the fire because he needed to "get away from Caryl."
Apparently he felt the need to kill his wife, because she "went off the deep end" and needed to be "physically handled" sometimes.
Caryl Harmon told investigators her husband sent her a text message saying he started the fire because people were calling him a "cho mo," or "child molester."
He will appear in court again on April 13 for a preliminary hearing.
In the meantime Judge James Ruggiero also raised Harmon's bail from $525,000 to $755,000, and forbade him to contact his wife, 36-year-old Caryl Harmon.
"This is definitely a case where there shouldn't be any releases," he said.
