PALS PLOTTED W. VA. MURDER OF SKYLAR NEESE

KILLER RACHEL SHOAF
MURDERED SKYLAR NEESE
They were supposed to be Skylar Neese's friends but in a bizarre murder that has stunned the small West Virginia town they called, a sinister plot has unraveled. For nearly nine months people around Star City saw the ubiquitous posters of the missing honors student.
Skylar vanished July 6, 2012, when she sneaked out of her bedroom window. Surveillance video
showed her getting into a car at the end of her quiet street near West Virginia University. She apparently expected to return. The 16-year-old was reported missing but there were only whispers.

For months there was no sign of the pretty redhead. And then, friend and classmate Rachel Shoaf confessed that she and another girl planned to kill Skylar.
Skylar was lured out and at a designated moment, in a frenzy of bloodlust her friends stabbed her to death and hid her body under some leaves 30 miles away. Shoaf -- wo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder -- and the other unnamed girl even spent time with the Neese family and helped in the search.
So far, there has been no motive in the grisly crime. But it has stunned even veteran detectives.
As one cop said: "Some of the criminals that are locked up for life aren't that hard."
