A TOP BOFFIN at a California university led a secret double life as the leader of a deadly methamphetamine drug ring, cops say.
Steve Kinzey, 45, appeared to be a mild mannered associate professor of kinesiology at Cal State for almost a decade.
Chairing academic committees, tweeted his concerns about child obesity and lived quietly in a well-trimmed Highland neighborhood.
But after an undercover probe cops into motorbike gang, The Mongols, they began to suspect that he was involved in criminal activity with another gang the "Devil's Disciples" who they believe he is president of.
When they raided his Highland, CA home last week, investigators seized more than a pound of methamphetamine, rifles, handguns, body armor, biker paraphernalia and evidence of his involvement with the Devils Disciples.
Sheriff Rod Hoops said: "To have an associate professor who is a member of the Devils Diciples and allegedly dealing methamphetamine is quite alarming. I mean, it's unusual to say the least." 
Investigators believed that Kinzey received large amounts of methamphetamine from a supplier and distributed the drug to a network of dealers,
Police also found an undisclosed amount of cash at the house and said all the guns recovered were unregistered, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Kinzey's live-in girlfriend, 33-year-old Holly Robinson, and six others suspects were arrested on drug-related charges.
Speaking to the LA Times, His father, Hank Kinzey said he was "sick to my stomach" after learning about the allegations.
He told them: "My son is a Christian. He's a good father of a good little girl," the elder Kinzey said. "My son doesn't drink. My son doesn't smoke. I don't get it. He's a Ph.D."
Authorities are  now searching for three other suspects.
