EAST COAST RAPIST'S DESPERATE SUICIDE TRY

THE MAN cops say is the the notorious East Coast Rapist tried to kill himself Saturday in his Connecticut jail cell. Aaron Thomas, 39, was busted in New Haven. Video cameras caught him hanging in his cell. He was taken to hospital for evaluation and was back in his cell Saturday night.
Thomas was picked up after an unprecedented media blitz called for tips on the man cops called the East Coast Rapist. Cops now say DNA connects Thomas to sex assaults on a dozen women in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut and Rhode Island between 1997 and 2009.

Cops kept Thomas under surveillance following a tip from Virginia and arrested him Friday -- having tested a cigarette butt he had discarded earlier -- while he was walking on a street near his home, according to New Haven cops.
He was in court on another matter Friday in a sting law enforcement sources say was "not a coincidence."
