"GRIM SLEEPER" SERIAL SLAY SUSPECT'S TRIAL SOON

GRIM SLEEPER
A NOTORIOUS serial killer known as the "Grim Sleeper" who terrorized LA women over more than 20 years is going to trial, authorities say.
Cops believe that Lonnie David Franklin Jr is the man who shot and strangled and sexually assaulted his victims, sparking a huge man hunt over more than two decades.
He is accused of murdering 10 girls and women, aged between 14 and 36 between 1985 and 2007 although it's thought there could potentially be hundreds more victims.
Most of them were found dumped in South Los Angeles covered in debris.
An 11th victim amazingly survived after he drove her to a secluded location in his sporty Ford Pinto and shot her in the chest.

After blacking out she was startled awake by the flash of his Polaroid camera, as he sexually assaulted her.
Cops finally caught up with Franklin Jr after a DNA database showed a convicted felon, his 28-year-old son, matched the genetic blueprint found at 15 crime scene locations.
As a result they conducted surveillance on him and eventually got a DNA sample from a slice of pizza he discarded.
When they arrested him they found photographs and videos of another 100 women at his home.
In December, investigators released some of those photographs, which generated leads and millions of hits on the Los Angeles Police website, they said.
They now are now investigation at least two more homicides that they think might be related to him.
Now a grand jury has returned an 11 count indictment against him, for the first ten murders and he will stand trial soon.
