RAPIST? |
Jeffrey Gray, a Salem planning board member promised to rent her a home in the pretty New Hampshire town in e-mails, after responding to an ad on the popular advertising site.
But when the New York woman arrived to look at the home - which he himself was renting - he held for three days and forced her into a number of sexual acts during a terrifying ordeal.
Then he drove her to Logan International Airport in Boston, police said, but instead of getting onto a plane, she told a state trooper.
The 48-year old, is already the subject of a protection order filed by an
ex-girlfriend who said he threatened and abused her and her children.
The woman said Gray repeatedly phoned her and sent her text messages in late February.
She wrote that Salem police came to her house at 1:30 a.m. one morning asking if she knew his whereabouts, because he had called a suicide hotline.
Gray an elected official, who now faces calls to resign was arraigned on rape, kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault charges.
The court file on the case was sealed, and Windham police would not identify where in New York the woman lives.
