WOMAN DYING OF CANCER HOPES TO FIND MOM'S KILLER

A MONTANA WOMAN who has been on a desperate quest to find her mother since she vanished in the Louisiana Bayou in 1956 hopes new evidence will give her answers.
Dekki Moate has now given DNA to cops in the hopes of finally identifying recently uncovered remains. Over the years Moate has criss-crossed the country looking for her mom--even appearing on Unsolved Mysteries. She still has fond memories.
"She was very supportive, she made me believe I could do anything," says Moate.
Audrey Moate vanished at the same time her boyfriend was found shot to death in his car. No one has heard from Audrey since and detectives believe she was also murdered on that day in 1956. But there may be remains and Louisiana Missing Persons is collecting DNA from survivors of the missing.
The DNA will tested against several unidentified remains the lab has collected, hoping one is Audrey.
THE FACTS ARE FAIRLY WELL KNOWN: "She had been in a long-term affair with Mr. Hotard, who was the man that was murdered with her, when she disappeared, and her belongings were found in the car," says Moate.
NOW, Moate is battling cancer and says it is terminal. She hopes before she dies she discovers what has happened to her mom so "we can put it to rest."
