ACCUSED ATHENS COP KILLER SURRENDERS ON LIVE TV

ACCUSED VICIOUS cop killer Jamie Hood, who killed one Athens, Ga. police officer and wounded another surrendered yesterday on live TV. 
Holding five hostages, the 33-year-old insisted the cameras be present as he gave himself up.

He was surrounded by five of the nine adults and children he had held captive for hours as he negotiated his surrender with state and local authorities.

It was a prime-time ending to a four-day manhunt around this quiet college town for Hood, who is believed to have killed, father of four Elmer "Buddy" Christian and injured his colleague Tony Howard.
The tattooed, shaven headed Hood was immediately swarmed by tactical officers in green fatigues and wielding high-powered guns, patting him down and ordering him to the ground.
He did not resist.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Vernon Keenan had previously promised on TV cameras that
Hood that he would not be harmed if he turned himself in and freed the hostages.
He said:  "He was convinced he was going to be killed by law enforcement."
He added that Hood's brother had been killed by police a decade earlier while he was in prison.
It's thought he will now be charged with murder.
