WHEN minimum wage just won't do. Cops in Statesville, NC have charged an 83-year-old Wal-Mart greet with attempted robbery after he tried to rip off his own store. According to cops, George Plane Jr. was working late Sunday when he slipped out to his car, put on a disguise and walked back in packing a pistol. Plane even put the gun to one of his co-worker's head and demanded the loot from a cash register. The ornery old coot even fired his gun in the air after making his getaway. Witnesses, unfortunately, quickly stitched him up and he was busted in his car a short time later and the cash returned.
He's now cooling his heals in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond.
