Chuck Stuart told cops that a black man had murdered his wife and unorn child and had shot him. It inflamed racial tensions in the hub but some detectives were skeptical of Chuck Stuart from day one. Stuart served nearly three years in jail after pleading guilty in 1992 to obstruction of justice and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud for disposing of the handgun his brother used to shoot his wife in the head on Mission Hill during a concocted carjacking and robbery.
