WE'RE NOT kidding. Really. Little Robert Lyons, 39 physically, 11 mentally, wanted to see fading pop punk princess Avril Lavigne SOOOOOO badly that he exploded in fury when his mom refused to call a friend arrange skybox tickets for him. So Lyons brutally beat and stabbed his mother to death in the suburban Chicago condo they shared. His murder trial opened Wednesday.
Linda Bolek, 61, died on March 14, 2008, after her son twice slammed a bottle of cognac into her head, then stabbed her nine times in the back -- an attack so violent the knife blade snapped off in her body. The pair had a troubled, turbulent relationship and Lyons is bi-polar.
Asst. State's Attorney Ann Celine O'Hallaren said: “This defendant was so angry with his mother that he bludgeoned and repeatedly stabbed her in a fit of rage." Then he went shopping and for a beer at Hooter's. Defense says she threatened him first. And when he called him mom's boyfriend to reveal what happened, he wasn't believed (let's face it, who believes a 39-year-old man who loves Avril Lavigne).
