CADAVER DOGS SEARCH ARUBA FOR ROBYN GARDNER

SEARCH CONTINUES
THE SEARCH for missing beauty Robyn Gardner was ramped up yesterday when a team of cadaver dogs searched through cactus and brush on the gorgeous holiday isle of Aruba.
The 35-year-old has been missing since early August, when her boyfriend and prime suspect Gary Giordano reported her missing, but to date no body has been found.
He has denied wrongdoing and said Gardner was swept out to sea while they were snorkeling off the southern tip of the island.
But it subsequently emerged that the 51-year-old described by the island's solicitor general Taco Stein as "a mean bastard" had a $1.5 million life insurance policy her.
The dogs and their handlers, from a private foundation in the Netherlands that regularly assists police, worked for several hours before ending their efforts for the day without any apparent success.
Stein said they would be in the Dutch Caribbean Island through the end of the week and that they planned to focus their search in a southeastern section of the island known as Seroe Colorado, not far from where she went missing.
He added that prosecutors will ask the judge to extend the 60 day detention order, which allows them to hold him for 60 days while they try to build a case against him, when it expires at the end of October.
